What's the Quarantine 15?

Everyone has heard of the 'Freshman 15'. It's when you go off on your own to college and your diet goes haywire...you eat french fries every day and come home for Christmas notably heavier. But have you heard of the Quarantine 15?
I recently attended a hypnosis event that had been shut down for Covid reasons for over a year. I was looking forward to seeing many old friends. To my surprise, over half of them had experienced significant weight gain - the Quarantine 15!
We all remember early 2020 (before vaccines), many of us sitting at home working remotely, anxious and unsure about Covid, what it was, and desperately trying not to get it. I remember being stressed, bored, not getting much exercise, and just eating - a lot. Stress increases cortisol in the body which results in wanting more hyperpalatable foods (foods high in salt or fat). It also reduces lean muscle mass, which slows your metabolic rate and can result in weight gain. I don't know about you, but when I'm stressed, I run to that chocolate bar! A recent study by Harvard University confirmed that 29% of 15 million people gained over 12 pounds from 2020 to 2021. Ironically, higher body weight puts you at greater risk for Covid complications.
Sometimes people need help reaching healthy goals by addressing and resolving the reason WHY unhealthy eating occurs. During hypnosis, clients enter a relaxed state which causes them to be more susceptible to change. The subconscious mind can then be accessed to explore memories, habits, fears, food associations, negative self-talk, and self-esteem. I remember, "...you can't leave the table until you clear your plate!" These issues can be addressed, and positive health behaviors built up. A recent search of trending weight loss drugs returned 'Ozempic', which requires the person to inject themselves weekly to lower their blood sugar! The average weight loss is only about 10 pounds. Wouldn't you rather get to the source of WHY you overeat and do it naturally? No other weight loss method addresses your core issues like hypnosis does.
